Sattari Boy Amputation Case: Preliminary Inquiry Report Reveals…

Panaji: The preliminary inquiry into the amputation case involving an 11-year-old boy from Sattari has identified serious lapses in medical supervision, prompting disciplinary action against a senior doctor.

According to the inquiry report, the plaster slab was applied by Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) without adequate supervision from the attending medical officer. The report points to a significant deviation from standard medical protocols, raising concerns over patient safety and accountability within the healthcare system.

In response to the findings, Dr. Yavanti Gawade has been placed under indefinite suspension on charges of alleged medical negligence. The suspension will remain in effect pending the outcome of an inquiry by an expert committee, which has been tasked with conducting a detailed assessment of the treatment provided and determining responsibility.

The case has drawn widespread public attention after the young boy reportedly underwent an amputation following complications related to his treatment. The incident sparked criticism from citizens and renewed calls for stricter adherence to medical procedures and stronger oversight in government healthcare facilities.

Health authorities have stated that the preliminary inquiry is only the first stage of the investigation. The expert committee’s report is expected to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the circumstances that led to the incident and recommend further action, if necessary.

The case continues to be closely monitored, with the findings of the expert committee likely to determine the next course of administrative and legal action.
