Panaji: A fresh cash-for-jobs scam has surfaced in Goa, with police booking two government employees for allegedly cheating a retired police officer of ₹10 lakh on the false promise of securing a government job for his son.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly collected the money in 2023 after assuring the retired officer that they would help secure a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) post for his son. However, the promised job never materialised, and the amount was also not returned, prompting the complainant to approach the police. The case has been registered at the Ponda Police Station, and an investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding the alleged fraud.
Police said the two accused are reportedly employed at Goa Medical College (GMC). The case adds to the growing list of job-racket complaints in the state, where multiple people have come forward over the past two years alleging that they were duped of large sums of money on the pretext of being offered government jobs.
The latest case is likely to intensify concerns over the continuing cash-for-jobs scandal in Goa, which has already triggered several FIRs across different police stations and drawn sustained political and public attention. With investigations into multiple recruitment-related fraud complaints still ongoing, the new case underscores the urgent need for stronger safeguards and greater awareness against job scams targeting desperate aspirants and their families.
