Dangerous Pothole on Curchorem-Sanguem Road Raises Safety Concerns

Curchorem: A large pothole that has developed on the Curchorem–Sanguem road has become a major cause of concern for commuters, with residents warning that it poses a serious risk to motorists, particularly two-wheeler riders.

According to locals, the pothole has grown in size following continuous rainfall, making the stretch increasingly hazardous for vehicles passing through the area. Motorists have reported being forced to slow down abruptly or swerve to avoid the damaged section of the road, increasing the likelihood of collisions and accidents.

Residents have expressed frustration over the condition of the road, stating that despite repeated concerns, the damaged stretch has not yet been repaired. They fear that if immediate action is not taken, the pothole could lead to a major mishap, especially during the monsoon when poor visibility and waterlogging make it difficult for drivers to identify road hazards.

Daily commuters have urged the concerned authorities, including the Public Works Department (PWD), to carry out urgent repair work and restore the road to a safe condition. They have also called for regular inspections of roads across the region to identify and address similar hazards before they endanger lives.

With traffic movement remaining heavy on the Curchorem–Sanguem route, residents are hoping that the authorities will act swiftly to repair the damaged stretch and prevent any untoward incidents. They have appealed for immediate intervention, stressing that proactive maintenance is essential to ensure the safety of all road users during the ongoing monsoon season.
