Search on for missing man from Thivim who had gone for fishing

A 61-year-old man from Thivim, identified as Narendra Sawant, is feared to have drowned after reportedly going fishing near his residence on Sunday evening.

According to officials, Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Mapusa launched a search operation late Sunday night in the Manas area of Thivim, Bardez, after receiving information that the man had gone missing.

Despite extensive efforts, rescue teams were unable to trace Narendra Sawant during the initial search. The operation was suspended overnight and is expected to resume today, with personnel continuing their efforts to locate him.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and further details are awaited as the search operation progresses.

The incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with fishing near water bodies, particularly during the monsoon season, when strong currents and rising water levels can make conditions especially hazardous.
