Borim Bridge to Remain Closed on February 8–9

The Executive Engineer, Works Division XV (NH), PWD Ponda, has announced a temporary yet complete closure of the crucial Borim Bridge (NH-566). The planned infrastructure closure will also be accompanied by a strict ban on the movement of all heavy vehicles across the structure during the designated maintenance window.

The total closure is scheduled to commence from 8:00 PM on February 8, 2026 (Sunday) and will remain in effect until 8:00 AM on February 9, 2026 (Monday). This specific timeframe has been chosen to minimize major daytime traffic congestion along the busy National Highway corridor.

According to public works officials, the temporary shutdown is necessitated to facilitate vital Polymer Modified Bituminous (PMB) road work. Executing the task during a complete closure ensures hindrance-free and speedy completion of the remaining critical repair and rehabilitation work required to preserve the structural integrity of the bridge.

Motorists and daily commuters are strongly advised to plan their travel routes well in advance to avoid unexpected delays. The department has requested the public to use designated alternate routes during this 12-hour closure period to prevent traffic bottlenecks and ensure smooth transit across the region.
