Chimbelkars seek written orders on both projects

Residents of Chimbel have demanded written assurances from the Goa government regarding two proposed development projects, expressing concerns over their potential impact on local water resources, the environment, and the livelihoods of villagers. The demand was raised during a public meeting attended by local residents and community representatives.

The villagers insisted that verbal assurances from government officials were insufficient and urged the authorities to issue formal written orders clearly outlining the status of both projects. They maintained that such documentation would provide transparency and prevent future misunderstandings regarding the implementation of the proposed works.

Residents reiterated that any development must be carried out only after proper environmental assessments and consultations with the local community. They also called on the government to ensure that the projects do not adversely affect water sources, agricultural land, or the ecological balance of the area.

Community leaders stated that they would continue to pursue the matter through peaceful and democratic means until their concerns are formally addressed. They expressed hope that the government would engage with the villagers and provide the requested written assurances at the earliest.
