The ongoing controversy surrounding the structural restoration and management of the iconic Kala Academy in Panaji has taken a fresh political turn. A former insider has publicly challenged the opposition’s narrative, demanding greater transparency and less rhetoric regarding the state’s premier cultural institution. The development shifts the focus toward documented evidence rather than verbal political exchanges.
Former State Cultural Development Committee member Vishal Pai Cacode has issued a direct statement targeting the Leader of the Opposition (LOP). Cacode stated that if the LOP is genuinely serious about resolving the systemic issues plaguing the Kala Academy, he must immediately make public the official inspection report that he promised to release following his high-profile site visit in July 2024.
The demand for disclosure comes amid persistent allegations from various quarters regarding irregularities in the renovation work of the complex. Cacode emphasized that public posturing without releasing concrete structural findings does little to help the artistic community. He insisted that data-backed transparency is necessary to hold any administrative department accountable for potential lapses.
Furthermore, Cacode stated that similar proactive attention and rigorous oversight should be extended to investigate operational issues at the Ravindra Bhavan in Margao. He concluded by adding that the state’s cultural infrastructure requires immediate corrective action on the ground instead of reactive, politically motivated statements designed for media consumption.
