Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar No More

Maharashtra mourns the untimely demise of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who tragically passed away following a plane crash near Baramati Airport on Sunday afternoon. The incident has sent shockwaves across the political landscape, as leaders and citizens alike pay tribute to one of the state’s most influential and seasoned politicians.

According to initial reports, the aircraft carrying Pawar reportedly crashed while attempting to land, resulting in severe injuries to all onboard. Despite immediate rescue efforts and emergency medical attention, Pawar succumbed to his injuries shortly after being taken to a nearby hospital. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the cause of the crash, with aviation experts examining technical malfunctions and weather conditions at the time of the incident.

Ajit Pawar, a senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was widely regarded as a pillar of Maharashtra’s governance. Known for his administrative expertise and pragmatic leadership, he had served multiple terms as Deputy Chief Minister and held key portfolios, including Finance and Water Resources. His passing marks the end of an era in Maharashtra politics, leaving behind a legacy of decisive governance and development-focused leadership.

Political leaders across party lines expressed deep sorrow over the loss. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde described Pawar as “a visionary leader who dedicated his life to Maharashtra’s progress.” NCP founder Sharad Pawar, his uncle and mentor, was visibly emotional, calling the tragedy “an irreparable loss to the state and the nation.”

Condolences poured in from across India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu extending their sympathies to Pawar’s family and supporters. “Ajit Pawar’s contribution to Maharashtra’s development and his commitment to public service will always be remembered,” the Prime Minister said in a statement.

Citizens across Maharashtra gathered to pay their respects, with candlelight vigils held in Pune, Mumbai, and Baramati. Social media platforms were flooded with tributes, highlighting Pawar’s achievements in infrastructure development, rural upliftment, and fiscal management.

The Maharashtra government has announced state mourning and a full state funeral to honor the late Deputy Chief Minister. Flags will be flown at half-mast, and official functions have been postponed as a mark of respect.

Ajit Pawar’s political journey spanned over three decades, during which he earned a reputation for being a strong administrator and a leader who understood the pulse of the people. His work in improving irrigation systems, boosting industrial growth, and strengthening local governance left a lasting impact on the state.

As investigations into the crash continue, Maharashtra remembers Ajit Pawar not only as a politician but as a leader who dedicated his life to public welfare. His passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of leaders
