Concerns over student safety have intensified at BITS Pilani Goa Campus following reports of six student deaths and the arrest of a Swiggy delivery executive carrying 226 grams of ganja within one kilometre of the campus.
The narcotics seizure was made by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), which arrested the accused as part of its ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking. The incident has renewed discussions about the availability of narcotics in areas surrounding educational institutions.
Social activist Siddesh Bhagat questioned whether the recent incidents were merely coincidental or pointed to deeper issues requiring urgent attention. He called for a comprehensive inquiry and stronger measures to ensure campus safety.
Authorities have stated that investigations into both the student deaths and the drug seizure are ongoing. Meanwhile, students, parents, and members of the public have sought greater transparency, improved security measures, and enhanced awareness programmes to address safety and substance abuse concerns.
