Fuel Prices Hiked By Rs 3 Per Litre Across India

Panaji: Motorists across the country, including Goa, will have to pay more for fuel as the prices of both petrol and diesel have been increased by ₹3 per litre with effect from May 15, 2026. The hike comes amid a surge in global crude oil prices, driven by escalating tensions and conflict in West Asia.

The increase is expected to have a direct impact on daily commuters, transport operators, businesses, and households, with higher fuel costs likely to influence transportation expenses and the prices of essential goods and services.

In Goa, the revised rates came into effect from today, with consumers feeling the impact at petrol pumps across the state. Anticipating the price rise, several fuel stations witnessed long queues late on Wednesday night as motorists rushed to refill their vehicles before the revised prices were implemented.

Industry observers have attributed the latest revision to the sharp rise in international crude oil prices, which has been influenced by the ongoing geopolitical situation in West Asia. The volatility in global energy markets has increased pressure on fuel pricing, prompting the latest adjustment.

The fuel price hike is expected to affect a wide range of sectors, particularly public transport, logistics, tourism, and commercial transportation. Many consumers have also expressed concern over the additional burden on household budgets, especially at a time when the cost of living remains high.

While the government has implemented the revised prices from today, authorities will continue to monitor developments in the global crude oil market. Any future changes in international oil prices or domestic taxation policies could influence fuel prices in the coming weeks.

With the revised rates now in force, motorists across Goa are advised to check the latest fuel prices at their nearest petrol stations before refuelling.
