Mandrem: Mandrem Police have arrested a 59-year-old Russian national for allegedly residing in Goa without valid passport and visa documents, officials said.
According to police, the foreign national was found during verification and was unable to produce valid travel or immigration documents authorising his stay in India. Following preliminary inquiries, police registered a case and took the accused into custody for allegedly violating the provisions governing the stay of foreign nationals in the country.
The accused has been booked under the relevant provisions of the law, and further investigation is underway to ascertain how long he had been staying in Goa without valid documentation and whether there were any other violations of immigration regulations.
Police are also coordinating with the concerned immigration and Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) authorities to verify the individual’s travel history and determine the appropriate legal course of action.
The arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by Goa Police to monitor the stay of foreign nationals in the state and ensure compliance with passport, visa, and immigration laws. Authorities have reiterated that strict action will be taken against individuals found violating the legal requirements governing their stay in India.
